Open-source blockchain platform TRON and crypto exchange HTX announced on Friday a new sports partnership with Singaporean goalkeeper Hassan Sunny.

Hassan Sunny is a professional footballer for the Singapore Premier League club Albirex Niigata and the Singapore national team. The 40-year-old goalkeeper became an overnight internet sensation on Chinese social media following Singapore’s 3-1 loss to Thailand on Tuesday.
TRON and HTX Partner with Hassan Sunny
According to an X (formerly Twitter) post on June 14, TRON and HTX have forged a strategic collaboration with the “top goalkeeper” to safeguard user assets.
TRON founder Justin Sun, who was captured shaking hands with Hassan Sunny at the signing ceremony, took to X to laud the development.
“Welcoming top goalkeeper Hassan Sunny to #HTX & #TRON! This collaboration marks a new era of security and asset protection in the blockchain space,” Justin Sun.
While both companies did not specify the partnership’s details, HTX has announced a to mark the event. The exchange said 10 lucky winners would get a chance to enjoy Nasi Lemak (Malay cuisine), play football with Sunny in Singapore, and win signed merchandise.
Regarding Tuesday’s match, Sunny made 11 saves as Thailand, despite winning, fell agonizingly short of a spot in the next round of World Cup qualifiers. Thailand needed to score at least four goals with a two-goal victory margin or win the match by three clear goals to topple China in the standings.
Following the development, China will proceed to the next round’s qualifiers draw on June 27.
The win was welcomed by Chinese nationals, given that the country’s team had not qualified for a World Cup finals tournament since 2002 when it made its sole appearance.
