Kitty Duterte shared this post for her father
Kitty Duterte is celebrating Father’s Day today for her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently in the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Kitty is FPRRD’s daughter with his common-law wife Honeylet Avanceña. Just like her other siblings, Kitty is also vocal about supporting her father, and fighting for him against critics.
On June 20, as the world celebrates Father’s Day, Kitty dedicated a heartfelt post to her father. She shared a throwback photo with her father.
“Happy father’s day, papa/dada rody. as much as we talk, the kind of man you are never lets me run out of things to say,” she wrote i in the caption of her psot.
Kitty Duterte also shared that even though she would talk to her father four times a week, and would see him every other month, but she would still feel him in “every wave of silence and every strike of the crowd.”
“Beyond all these impressive, but superficial titles, legacies, credentials and achievements, i’ve been pondering about what among the things you’ve imparted to us, holds most merit,” Kitty expressed.
Then, she pointed out that it all boiled down to their upbringing, and that this made them special. She mentioned that they may not be as wealthy, decent, and polished as others, but the dominance of their patriarch’s character cannot be denied, and for her, this is something that she and her siblings have inherited from their father.
“Papa rody, out of all these proud public servants, who cry righteousness in their suits and treat politics as a stage, you always knew it was meant for service. nanay soling may have said you would end up as a “kargador” but i know deep down she always knew you were an exception. you always had a way with people,” she said.
She also highlighted how her father would value the people at the expense of everything and everyone he has.
“I deemed it normal to have felt this sense of territoriality when people called you tatay, but it would be an insult to the gravity of your sacrifices to just call you “president”. papa rody, you are the best papa—but an even better patriot, tatay digong,” she stressed.
Kitty Duterte also said that she holds her head so high, knowing she has her father’s fire, and she place her feet so grounded, knowing that she comes from him. The daughter of FPRRD ended her lengthy post with, “Que sera, sera. i’ll see you when i see you, papa.”
